Re: George Clooney in Seven Samurai
Donnie Yen already remade SEVEN SAMURAI....
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0429078/
So why is he remaking it again... with Clooney?

I think fake trailers should be created for supposed remakes, get everyone in the theater...and just show the original. It'll save A LOT of time and money, and perhaps educate some dumbasses in the process.

Zhang Zhiyi is also attached to the project.
LEAVE THE SEVEN SAMURAI ALONE for CRISSAKE!A talent for drama is not a talent for writing, but is an ability to articulate human relationships.

Unfvckinbelievable.
I see remakes of Casablanca, Sunset Boulevard, and Rear Window on the horizon. Hollywood truly is run by the biggest financial pus$ies on the planet.Just one more reason to get hammered tonight.

Re: George Clooney in Seven Samurai
Whatever happened to "clever" rewrites of the classics? You know, the ones where stupid people don't know it's a rewrite, and smart people don't care, because it's well done?
The Seven Samurai was remade as
The Magnificent Seven (I wonder if film students everywhere were writing longhand to their friends "I can't believe that f'ing Yul Brynner!")
Battle Beyond the Stars (Screenwriters everywhere bitching to their friends on them newfangled "cordless" phones "I can't believe that f'ing George Peppard!")
A Bug's Life (Screenwriters exploiting a new thing called email, bitch incessantly to their peers "That f'ing Dave Foley!!!!")
...
You raise hackles at none of these, and yet complain if the same thing is done without the pretense of it being a different movie (i.e. changing the title and a few key elements?)

After all, if the entire world doesn't know it's a remake, then studio heads may roll if it tanks at the BO.
