  • To Catch a Thief (1955)

Vote: Underrated? Or Rightfully ignored... that is if the notion that this Hitch film isn't recognized enough is correct.

The "twist" wasn't that much of a shocker for me... but I really like Grant and Kelly's charm.

Lastly, very eerie that they were speeding up in the highway where Princess Grace in real life would....

But what cha think o this film, peepsz?

It's charming, but nothing special. There's, at the very least, a dozen Hitchcock movies that take priority over this one.

I did see it twice in two days at the cinema during a Hitchcock festival, though. But that's only because I ran into a girl the second night and went to see it with her so that we could make out afterwards.

Ain't nothing like a good lay... other movies that are above this one:

      NORTH BY NORTHWEST (underrated)
REAR WINDOW (overrated but very entertaining)
      VERTIGO
DIAL M FOR MURDER (Shut up, it was very good)
SHADOW OF A DOUBT... nuff said

And of course the movie that spawned 3 sequels from hell and a remake by Gus Van Sant that seemed to mock it

I've never really cared for it. It's okay, but it's nothing special.

And I read an interesting critic of Van Sants version.

Something about the color in that era really turned some movies (for me) into cartoons.

I'll rent it soon. Sounds like a good Saturday afternoon movie.

Wait a minute. Was this in black and white or color? Anyway, do you guys know what I mean? There was a time that color just ruined the whole production--I don't know what it was, but it looked fake. You directors tell me.

But then, Hitchcock's screen women were perfect, as I recall. I want to see this now that I'm a big girl.

Not great by any means, but still worth checking out every now and again.

Ooh, I had a déjà vu moment there... see the recent What film ending would you change, and how? thread.

                Love it.

                I love Grace Kelly too.
