  • What films could use an awesome prequel?

Having just watched the DVD again tonight i think Rollerball (1976, not the one recently directed by he who shall not be spoken aloud anymore) would be ripe for a great prequel. Tell us of the meteoric rise of superstar Jonathan E, the story of him losing his wife to a corporate executive and the corporate wars. Thoughts on this and what else would make a great prequel?

I was really hoping for a prequel to Sexy Beast. We could see the incident between Don, Gale, and Teddy that went bad and sent Gale to prison...prompting his wanting to stay out in Sexy Beast. Would've been nice to see Aitch as well, probably need him for the story. Unfortunately, the actor who played him passed away.

          Gladiator could use a prequel.

          Call it Everybody Loves Maximus.

And why not a sequel too? Call it Maximus Lives!

Night of the Living Dead. The problem with each successive entry in Romero's mythos is that the events get further away from the initial outbreak...it's when the excrement hits the rotating device and folks don't know how to cope that the premise really captures the imagination.

Ben's monologue about the events that occurred at Beekman's Diner would make for a great climax to a prequel, one that told the story from his perspective.

                Good idea for a thread.

                I'd go with Pulp Fiction.

I know you meant it in jest, but the story of the rebellion of Satan against God and the fall of 1/3rd of the angels in heaven would make an awesome story. It's called Paradise Lost.

Or Lord of the Rings, maybe.

Wait, I thought for a long time they WERE working on a sequel to Gladiator that was supposed to star Djimon Houson's character?

I'd like to see Bond as a geeky teenager who cannot get any girls.

How about Armageddon: The One That Didn't Miss?

On a serious note, I really do want to see The Hobbit!
