  • Sidney Poitier today....

Only 2 days left of TCM's August's Summer Under Stars, and I've been at work today, so I missed the early features.

    SIDNEY POITIER(8/30/06)
    remaining lineup

    SIDNEY POITIER: ONE BRIGHT LIGHT
    6:00-GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER
    8:00-FOR LOVE OF IVY
10:00-IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT
    MIDNIGHT-THEY CALL ME MR. TIBBS
    2:00AM-THE WILBY CONSPIRACY
    4:00AM-SOMETHING OF VALUE

Might catch For Love of Ivy tonight(not seen it yet). Good lineup of films though.

Tomorrow is the last all-day film showcase featuring the "Queen of Femme Fatales;" "The Black Widow" herself: Barbara Stanwyck.

Watched IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT for the first time in I-don't-know-how-many-years. God, that's a brilliant movie. Rod Steiger is simply superb.

In the Heat of the Night was another one of those movies I'd seen all of, but not in one sitting. Got a chance just before the TV went kerplunk to watch it. It was spellbinding. (I judge how much I like a movie by the fact that I don't channel surf during the commercials because I don't want to miss anything.)

I so want a functioning TV.

Yeah. Rod's finest moment perhaps. Well deserved Oscar.
