I saw the first four minutes that are posted online, didn't do much for me :/ Guess it's not my cup of tea. But if it's as good as all the message boards on the web claim it to be, the release might still be re-expanded as the dough rolls in...
I've never found Borat funny. I liked Ali G while that schtick was still fresh, and I have nothing against offensive. Hell, I like offensive. But Borat's just not funny to me. He's just that "I KISS YOU!" web site guy taken to boring lengths.

I don't know much about this except that the commercials remind me of Yakov Smirnoff--who I never thought was funny.
I'm glad someone finally said that- it's completely true. Though I think Borat looks somewhat amusing, it's a renter at best for me. If I want more Yakov Smirnoff, I'll drive to Branson and see his lame dinner theater act there.
Cohen only resembles Yakov Smirnoff (spelling?) when he's in his Borat character. But I think Cohen is really more like Andy Kaufman. And like Andy Kaufman, many didn't get him. I happen to think Borat is a riot and think the movie will do better than expected. To me, both the Ali G and Borat characters are like Candid Camera bits -- only R-rated.
It might be funny (I hope it is), but this isn't exactly a big screen movie. I think the move makes sense.
May not be a Big Screen movie... but it will make a world of difference to see it with friends in a crowded theater of stangers. Do your soul a favor - just go see it and have a fun time!

I don't know, I don't like those "this is funny because other people around me are laughing" sort of things. I wanna laugh cause it's funny, not cause my relative perception tells me it's funny.
I think they are taking some lessons from the recent shock flop of Snakes on a Plane and are realizing that people sitting at home at computers typing "HAHAHA, thats so funny, I am so there!", and people actually showing up and paying $10 to see it are two completely different things.
Frosties are just Cornflakes for people who can't face reality.

Gotta wait for dvd figures (and yes, I did see it. Bad enough to be funny, good enough to be enjoyable. Now THAT was a movie worth seeing at the theatre.)
