Max in Mad Max doesn't qualify because he was a police officer.

Re: Ordinary guy in action movie?

What brought my question about was hearing a producer say he was looking for a contemporary, non-sci-fi or horror script about an "ordinary guy" in a high-octane action film. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized how difficult it is to get "ordinary guys" into action situations.

But there are some excellent examples here.

                  Oh, come on...

As if you don't wear a red bow tie and have a Rue Goldberg contraption that cooks your pancakes for you, and as if you don't eat your Mr. T cereal and devote your time to your sweet bike.

Pee Wee is as normal as it gets in my world.

Maybe that explains why I didn't date much in high school.

I didn't see the movie, but I believe Four Brothers were ordinary guys. Or did they have criminal backgrounds?

Oooo... Marathon Man. Yes, yes, yes!

Even now, I shiver when I conjure up the auditory memory of Olivier saying, "Is it safe?"

Oh, man. Olivier ruled, in the day.

                        Andy Garcia in Desperate Measures.
Kurt Russell in Executive Decision to the extent that he wasn't an "action" type of man, just an intelligence agent.

I've been putting off getting the dvd for fear of a new special edition with a Goldman commentary.

My favoritre part of the movie is when Hoffman tells Olivier how many diamonds he can keep.
