Yay George Miller for Happy Feet!

Now, if only Cate can do it too...

Oh my god...they gave the Best Original Screenplay award to Little Miss Sunshine! This may be a bigger farce than Sophia winning for LIT.

Get writing everyone! Any fvcking hack can now win an Oscar.

Guillermo del Toro was completely snubbed. Not that I was expecting him to win Best Screenplay, but certainly Best Foreign Film.

(To reiterate, that was Del Toro who was snubbed, not his film which ended up winning art direction and make-up).

the foreign language films are far superior to the best picture nominees IMHO this year.

I wouldn't have been disappointed if either Water or Pan's Labyrinth had won. Although I am dumbfounded that Volver wasn't nominated. Can't win them all.

Is it just me or is Leo looking like Errol Flynn?

It was sad to see the "play a real person and you'll get an Oscar" trend is alive and well...

But all in all, I liked these Oscars. The shadow peeps were amazing, Ellen was alright as a host, it kept moving for the most part. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Yeah that's five out of the past six best actor or actress winners.

Anyone take this into account when writing specs?

I have. I'm stuck in the second act of The Ryan Seacrest Story.

I think the idea of having to secure the rights to someone's life story is daunting enough that most don't try. Even so, why would a writer be interested in this? Not since the 2002 Oscars does a screenplay based on a real person's life win an Oscar (A Beautiful Mind). Seems like something to avoid to me.

Wow...it'll be interesting to watch the Oscars five years down the road (after it turns out that Botox causes face leprosy) and see who still shows up...
