  • Just saw Shoot'Em Up

This is the most ridiculously OVER THE TOP movie you'll ever see. Utterly impossible, yet insanely watchable. I really enjoyed it as it seems like a B-movie with an A-budget. Very John Woo-Hard Boiled era with jokes and action (like killing someone with a carrot). Don't go expecting Schindler's List though. It is what it is. The trailer is a good representation.

I hated it. Thought it was overblown and stupid. Saw it about 9 months ago.

You expected subtlety from something called Shoot 'Em Up?

I could see this movie being done with a reduced amount of special effects and with actors like Van Damme or someone else of equal or lesser value with its cheese-ridden one-liners. But, I think these people pull it off. It is NOT a masterpiece, but I thought it was fun to watch. If you enjoyed the poorly constructed actioneers of the 80's and people like Owen and Giamatti... Can't go wrong.

It's got Monica Bellucci? I'm seeing this.

After "Children of Men", Clive Owen is seemingly in danger of being typecast as an at-first-reluctant hero.

I would give up all my worldly possessions to suckle her warm breasts for just one night.

In terms of mindlessness, yeah. You could say that. However, I thought Shoot 'Em Up was a lot better.

Didn't expect subtlety, I expected something intelligent in its deconstruction of the genre. KILL BILL is the gold standard for this and SHOOT 'EM UP doesn't even come close. It's the worst role I've ever seen Paul Giamatti in and I thought the action was incredibly pedestrian. It played like a TV show to me.

It's on par with SMOKIN' ACES -- mostly as storyless and just as dumb.

I feel like that character type everday.
