They used to air all those older Horror films on Saturday nights when I was kid. Loved 'em.

I'll have to check that out. Thanks for posting Adam!

      My pleasure.

The film on now is a brilliant example of the 'right way' to make a torture/ghost story.

Damn... sounds like fun. Unfortunately, where I live the cable company thinks that AMC is good enough for us. Friggin' Texas-based corporations.

But now I want to go rent The Pit and the Pendulum... I haven't seen it since I was a young'un, but that was the flick where Barbara Steele hardwired my developing mind as to what is unbearably sexy.

        Black Sunday finished the job.

I have all of those on DVD (plus other Corman directed AIP horrors) - MGM put them all out as double features. Many of the scripts were written by Richard Matheson.

The cool thing about these films is that they were AIP cheapos, made on sets, and aside from the women in nightgowns, the main attraction was a creepy feeling of dread (check out the production design outside the House of Usher) - no money for FX, so they had to use what they had. Because they were raiding standing sets and costume houses, they ended up with period films that looked more expensive than they were.

Exactly. I have most of these on the same MGM MIDNITE MOVIES DVDs you've got, Bill. I don't have MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH though; which is on deck. Christopher Lee is DEATH in that right?

Alright folks, notebooks out. TALES OF TERROR has begun.

These are really some gems written by none other than Richard Matheson himself.

Huge Peter Lorre fan right here!

The most hilarious drunkard in film history, in my opinion.

Basil Rathbone had such a stern acting presence.
