Watched this again last night. Caught it during After Dark's HORRORFEST last November, and was floored. You can watch it for free too, and at your leisure.
It's under FEARnet in your OnDemand cable menu. Go to Free Movies, then FEARnet, then HORRORFEST. (6) of the (8) Horrorfest films are available, and as Horror goes--some of these are really good efforts for this genre's recent bad-rap with the Cinemedia.
The writer for one of the good films(Unrest), posts on here sometimes. Did a great job, as did the Director. Very original and fresh if you like real cadavers as antagonists. This one was penned by a darn good Horror writer. Perhaps the best script of the 8 films....no, I'll say that it is the best.
The Abandoned is the crown jewel of the bunch. I dare say the mood and pacing was almost brilliant. There's some issues audio-wise(the boom guy must've been scared to get in close), but the plotting is kicka$$! Dialogue wasn't over-the-top and far from excessive, so I'd love to get my hands on a copy of the script(bet you $20 it was under 80 pages); although, the Directing stood out the most.
We're discussing Directors, NACHO CERDA is an outstanding talent.
If you like good Horror, as in...original and un-conventional compared to recent releases outside of 1408, then both of these will be entertaining. Not complete classics, but I think you'll appreciate the effort, and enjoy the ride.
The Abandoned
Unrest
Wicked Little Things(if you like zombies)
Gravedancers(cool looking ghosts...silly set-up, but somehow it works)
The Hamiltons(a bit like the torture porns...directed by The Butcher Brothers, who are remaking APRIL FOOL'S DAY...they're okay)
Reincarnation(cookie cut from The Grudge, but still decent...Haunted Hotels=Good)
Penny Dreadful(awesome trailer...couldn't have been written by an experienced writer..oddly enough, this is probably what my first will turn out like )
Dark Ride(my bulldog Mandrake could have done better while pooping...seriously...unacceptable)
Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horrors(I bet it would be fun to smoke chronic while making a Horror fizzilm....why not? Snoop's always got his ho's with him)
Watch the bolded ones. The others might make your head explode...you've seen those stories done already.
