  • The 31 Best Horror Movies

In honor of the 31 one days of October, needless to say. I'm fairly certain #29 is "Nosferatu" and #5 is "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre".

Yeah... and it'll probably be the remake of the latter.

They screwed the pooch straight out of the starting gate: the American remake of The Ring at No. 31... piss-poor genre critics there, and I'm sure they'll be able to top that one.

They'll probably have The Shining at No. 1

No, it won't be the remake as they specifically mention in the hint "Headcheese" which obviously was the original working title for "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre".

I don't think they really screwed up with having "The Ring" on the countdown as I think it's one of the few all-around best horror films of the 2000s.

Also, they get automatic kudos for mentioning "Nosferatu".

Re: The 31 Best Horror Movies

I used to do one of these every year on another website(this is the first year in five that I haven't).

        HELLRAISER is a brilliant film.

I spotted some heinous rankings in there, but they've got EVIL DEAD, HALLOWEEN, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, FRIDAY THE 13TH, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, THE EXORCIST, THE SHINING, THE HAUNTING, DAWN OF THE DEAD, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, FRANKENSTEIN, DRACULA, AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, and PSYCHO in there.

SCREAM is in there. FROM DUSK TILL DAWN is in there too I believe.

Bet they left off my all-time favorite vampire flick though: THE LOST BOYS isn't in there.

The funny thing about Fright Night is that they're remaking that one also... which is perplexing, since a major hook of it (the aging host of the eponymous tv creature feature show is dragged in to hunt a real vampire) is such a part of the distant pop culture past.

They can update it, but it'll have to be changed so much that it won't even be a remake, really.

Didn't know that Signal - and could not agree with you more. of course, in ten years, they can use Rob Zombie as himself...
