What do you think have been some of the most memorable (or, perhaps, nearing the edge of freaky) physical transformations an actor or actress has made for a film?
Didn't look at the list yet but Linda Hamilton's transformation from soft focus cutie pie to tough-as-nails musclewoman in T2 certainly poured ice water over my crotch.
I always liked the cute, pudgy Hilary Duff. That's why she's not getting many film roles. That transformation actuially made her look 5 years older and too debutante.
Best transformation in film would have to go to Charlize for MONSTER. That completely amazed me.

Then Theron's transformation in MONSTER must've dropped an iceberg on it.
"I ask every producer I meet if they need TV specs they say yeah. They all want a 40 inch display that's 1080p and 120Hz. So, I quit my job at the West Hollywood Best Buy."

Alas I only saw trailer clips, but I wondered how much of that was look-ugly makeup and how much was lack of look-good makeup. Anyone know what she looks like first thing in the morning?
Going from giant John Rhys-Davies to Gimli the Dwarf is a transformation, he went through months of painful body reduction surgery for that role.
I'm still amazed at how they re-attached Gary Sinise's leg after filming Forest Gump. He walks pretty normal now, so I would deem that surgery a successful transformation.
In THE MACHINIST of course... Saw that recently and couldn't believe he went that far but his obsession to get to that deep level of appearance was simply outstanding. Dangerous health-wise, but homeric none the less.
Robert DeNiro in RAGING BULL from trim, fit World Champion boxer to fat-arsed loser.. Oscar Winning performance and transformation too..
