I like most of these a bit but for some reason I hated The Hitchhiker.

        Christmas?

        Why wait?

I watched SCARLET STREET, (for free), this past week.

You could download it from this link at the Internet Archives.
        JEKYLL & CANADA (free .mp4 download @ Vimeo.com)

I've had all of these for over 3 years.

I own (113) film noir on DVD. If it hasn't just been released recently in a restored version...I already own it.

That includes #1-#21 of the FOX FILM NOIR set, the Warner Film Noir collections volumes 1-4( Volume 2 http://www.overstock.com/Books-Movie...cid=80488&fp=F Volume 3 http://www.overstock.com/Books-Movie...0/product.html Volume 4 http://www.amazon.com/Classic-Collec.../dp/B000PKG7DE )

BTW, the prizes for the TOUCH OF NOIR contest consist of Volumes 1-4 of the WB Film Noir Classics Collection. Winner choses any (2) sets & 2nd choses any (1) set remaining.

May I come over? I'll bring snacks and beer.

Have one that stands out above the rest?

There's always noir playing on my TV. I usually go to sleep with one playing.

Last night's pick: Kiss Of Death

                My favorite: The Third Man

You're lucky you woke up this morning!

'The Third Man' is a great one. My favorite is 'Sweet Smell of Success'.

J.J. Hunsecker(Burt Lancaster): Mr. Falco, let it be said at once, is a man of 40 faces, not one - none to pretty, and all deceptive. You see that grin? That's the, eh, that's the Charming Street Urchin face. It's part of his helpless act: he throws himself upon your mercy. He's got a half-dozen faces for the ladies. But the one I like, the really cute one, is the quick, dependable chap. Nothing he won't do for you in a pinch - so he says. Mr. Falco, whom I did not invite to sit at this table tonight, is a hungry press agent, and fully up to all the tricks of his very slimy trade.
[Pulls out an unlit cigarette and faces Falco]
                    J.J. Hunsecker: Match me, Sidney.
Sidney Falco(Tony Curtis): Not right this minute, J.J.

Any writer who doesn't study noir or AT LEAST this film is really missing out. That goes for actors and directors, too. Both Lancaster and Curtis kill and the script rocks!
