Re: First Five Minutes of "Teeth"
I just don't see the point in these "first five minutes" or "first ten minutes" of a film. It's like a ten minute preview on an adult channel. All the good stuff comes AFTER the preview is over.
If a normal two minute trailer isn't enough to pique somebody's interest in a film, then what can FIVE minutes do?

Re: First Five Minutes of "Teeth"
The concept for this film amuses me to no end.
It is high concept, and in theory, it does what any horror film should do. It taps into a deeply seeded fear held by many people (men in this case). It also has a uniqely sadistic aspect for others (women).
All that said, it's something that I think is just too ridiculously disturbing for many people to take.
It's one of those areas I think you can't touch, IMO. It's like killing puppies. It's hard to get people to watch a movie where you're going to see a penis bitten off by a rampaging vajayjay.

Sometimes trailers, often for low budget horrors, are misleading. Lots of fast cuts and loud music that don't really show anything; especially mood and pacing. An uninterupted few minutes can potentially illuminate what the movie experience will be like, so I understand its purpose. It's interesting though with Teeth, that the trailer was essentially an uninterupted scene, so the first five of this particular film didn't add anything for me.
To anyone who's seent he whole thing - the copy describes the main girl as being a stranger to her our teen body or something like that that, but in the first 5min, she's teaching a health-ed class or something, which seems incongruent. Also, in some descriptions it implies that she's just discovered this abnomality, yet clearly in the opening scene as a small child she experiences "its" power. And... from user comments etc. it sounds like people are interpreting that the girl USES her power to get back at men, but unless I'm missing something I just don't get that from the clips.

While there is a flashback incident when she's a little girl, she has no idea what has happened. She doesn't fully realize what's going on down there until a Gynocologist visit well into the 2nd act.
And she most definitely begins to use it to punish men.
