  • Do you like to write Crime/MOB/FBI scripts, there is a market for this genre!!!!

Just heard Peter Buchman and Steven Soderbergh are joing forces to film "Making Jack Falcone," an undercover mob story that has been greenlighted by Paramount.

Buchman is writing the script. This true story has it all -- prostitution, extortion, murder, drugs, racketeering, gambling and more...

What an exciting project. Would you see this movie?

Are you a big fan of undercover FBI agent stories in the world of crime and corruption.

Who would you cast in this movie? I could see John Leguizamo as the lead.

Lastly, happy to hear that Paramount has numerous mob and undercover projects in pre-development. Like the undercover prison story penned by William Monahan.

Let's hear it for more Crime/Mob/FBI stories.

Do you have a Crime/Mob/FBI screenplay. Post your tagline or logline or short synopsis.

    Cheers,

      Hey Moviequill,

Do you write scripts on that level? Do you specialize in that genre?

A producer told me that his office is full of scripts similar to The Sopranos and Goodfellas and the market is saturated with scripts like these.

I find that hard to believe. Anyway I could be wrong.

I think the new generation is still looking forward to a dark modish-unique-modern "GODFATHER' -like film without any easy character arc.

I'll be posting a few pages my Mob/Crime/Romance script shortly. It's called DANCE DESIRE VIOLENCE.

      Cheers.

I don't think it's hard to believe that there are tons of mob/crime scripts. There seems to be one released every month.

It is though my favorite genre and boasts some of the greatest movies ever made.

          Hey Anita... and Popcorn...,

You ever seen this movie --

          7 Women (1966)

Do you think the story can lend itself to a modern Mafia screenplay that would avoid all the cliches.

          Just an idea.

          Best Regards,

Ben, never seen that movie before. The plot sounds pretty interesting.

I thought Training Day was really good because it felt so authentic. I would always tell people you could watch the movie and not feel like anyone was acting. I don't know if I would really call that crime/mob movie though.

The Departed and Casino are both great movies. Female characters in these kind of movies are almost always seen as prized trophies. I think it's just the genre. Tarantino's crime movies avoid doing that though.

              Training Day was awesome.

Enjoyed the recent Street Kings too.

i love that genre, but if he was lead i'd wait for it to come on HBO.

i wouldn't mind seeing some talented A-lister (or somebody under the radar) play lead that's never been a bad guy. somebody really left field. seeing the same type of characters gets old in this genre.
