  • Terminator 5 already set for 2011

    http://celluloidandcigaretteburns.bl...or-5-2011.html

The Halcyon Company and Warner Bros. are looking to greenlight a sequel to Terminator Salvation. Halcyon was going to wait for reaction to the release. Yet, the demand after the trailer and images have been released is too great to wait. They plan on having a release date sometime in 2011, director McG is starting it's development. The second installment will include Christian Bale as he has signed onto a trilogy. I'm sure they are waiting for box office returns before the project goes in the pre-production and location scouting. The Middle-East seems to be one of the locations in mind. I just hope they are able to bring back the writing team of the first film. The writers included Paul Haggis (Casino Royale, Million Dollar Baby), Johnathan Nolan (Dark Knight, Memento) and Shawn Ryan (The Unit, The Shield).

The Halcyon Company, who currently owns the franchise rights to Terminator, has already greenlit the fifth film in the Terminator series, following the currently in-production Terminator Salvation. McG, who is directing Salvation, is already working with Halcyon and will return for the fifth film, which is currently slated to arrive in 2011 - a short two years after Terminator Salvation hits theaters on May 22nd this upcoming summer. Christian Bale is also officially signed on to reprise his role as John Connor in a planned trilogy. This is definitely great news for those who are already excited for McG's Terminator.

I don't know if this is a good idea. The trailer did have some great things in it, but so did the Matrix sequels, films that should have made another 500 million than they did. Don't get me wrong, this movie will make bank and probably pull a 70-80 million opening weekend. But if it sucks, it will struggle to top 175.

I saved up all this money and spent 3 years preparing to invest in the stock market. At the last second I decided I just wasn't knowledgeable enough to invest. Three days later it went down 500 points. And we all know what's happened since. I count my lucky stars every day.

Too afraid. I'm one of these idiots who thinks that with a little bit of research, I can do anything at the highest level. But after studying the stock market, I faced up to the reality that that is one area I don't have a prayer of understanding.

But to answer your question. Yup! I'm buying everything in sight!

A trilogy is determined even before the first film comes out?

                Great. That always works.

To me these just seem like B-grade Terminator films. They really seem pointless, which is probably why Cameron didn't bother making any more. Still, suppose when you got no original ideas you gotta milk it for all it's worth.

That was the deal from the start, here. They bought the rights to make 3 films... and they bought the script for #4 that had already been written... because C2 planned on making several sequels.

These sequels are business... and kind of *the* business, all connected with that remake thread. The first film was the "chance" - made for something like $8 million by Hemdale - indie company. After that, everything was business, including T2. T2 was good biz for Cameron and Carolco - they got to do the big budget version and make some more money. T3 was good business for C2, and selling the rights was good biz for Cameron, C2, Hurd, and anyone else involved in the deal.

Somewhere along the line it always becomes business - it was even business on the first film. That's why it stars Ah-nuld and not Lance.

The trailer looks like a really expensive fan film. You know those rubbish Star Wars things the geeks make? There is a cool shot here and there and some ideas look like they should seem cool but just are not... Thats Terminator 4.

I doubt it will get made. I have it on good authority a Terminator robot from 2020 is set to go back to 2010 and stop production of this film.
