Re: Chris Nolan to helm his original sci-fi epic...

How do you guys feel about the possible casting of DiCaprio?

I honestly say that I left the movie theater not liking him after "Titanic", but work after work he began to establish himself as one fine actor in my book. Not that my opinion matters, but anyway...

I'm a Chris Nolan fan, so I'm excited to see how this develops.

Nolan is the only real working director today that, in my mind, hasn't had a single letdown.

      Following
      Memento
      Insomnia
      Batman Begins
      The Prestige
      The Dark Knight

All of those are very good films. So I'm trusting that this isn't as pretentious as it sounds.
Sent from my iPhone. Because I'm better than you.

IMHO, The Prestige is hardly a small film. Maybe midrange... but that period costume, street work and set work can NOT be cheap.

Damn fine movie. Based on Prestige, I'm definitely curious to see Nolan's sci fi.

I'm in the opposite thinking group. EVERY Nolan film has let me down.

Sorry, but it's bad when your film's flaws stand out more than its high points.

Seriously, Nolan cannot write for shlt.

Logic is the arch enemy of a Nolan script.

This is exactly how I feel about Nolan. He's too reliant on gimmickry, usually in the form of a puzzle, and attempts to pass it off as cunning and keen; the thing that the puzzle in every case is completely shallow and not something you mull over once you solved it five minutes later. For me, these puzzles amount to red herring to distract from the gaping flaws and mediocrity of his output.

Someone mentioned high school earlier in this thread, which is interesting because all of his films strike me as a exploration of nascent collegial curiosity.
