  • Feel *Bad* Movies of All Time

I watched "Precious" yesterday which made me think of this category. Wow, was that ever a painful movie to watch. Very well done, but excruciatingly sad. I did feel like they piled it on a bit thick though. I don't want to give anything away for those who haven't seen it yet, but for me it almost got to be too much. The other movie that comes to mind that I remember finding equally disheartening was "The Sweet Hereafter", yet I still liked it or maybe appreciated it is more accurate and its haunting soundtrack stuck with me for days.

Requiem for a Dream. Had to peel the ick off of me as I left the theatre. But one of the most amazing film experiences I've ever had...as long as you don't mind feeling BAD BAD BAD after.

      Cannibal Holocaust.

Yeah, I know... what do you expect? I'm the big horror buff, but for some reason this one really harshed my mellow (one of those films where the filmmakers are calling you out for watching the whole thing).

Put me off watching any horror films for about a month. But on the bright side, removed any temptation to watch Salo or Men Behind the Sun.

          Ditto.

House of Sand and Fog also made me want to belt the guy up next to me once the end credits began rolling...

Oh yes, "House of Sand and Fog". I had mercifully forgotten about that movie. But you're right. Same numb feeling afterwards.

Films like those I see once and then sell them.

Haha. I'm a man, man. Dancer in the Dark should be arrested for crimes against protagonists. Lars Von Trier is a sadist. (In a good way).

Never understood RFAD. It reached a new level or boring and attached. I felt nothing about that film. I came out the same way as I went in. It was an utter non-experience for me.
