I watched "Precious" yesterday which made me think of this category. Wow, was that ever a painful movie to watch. Very well done, but excruciatingly sad. I did feel like they piled it on a bit thick though. I don't want to give anything away for those who haven't seen it yet, but for me it almost got to be too much. The other movie that comes to mind that I remember finding equally disheartening was "The Sweet Hereafter", yet I still liked it or maybe appreciated it is more accurate and its haunting soundtrack stuck with me for days.

Cannibal Holocaust.
Yeah, I know... what do you expect? I'm the big horror buff, but for some reason this one really harshed my mellow (one of those films where the filmmakers are calling you out for watching the whole thing).
Put me off watching any horror films for about a month. But on the bright side, removed any temptation to watch Salo or Men Behind the Sun."Forget it, Jake. It's Hollywood."

House of Sand and Fog also made me want to belt the guy up next to me once the end credits began rolling...Last edited by Terrance Mulloy; 12-27-2009, 02:02 PM.
