  • Movies where innocent man is framed for murder

stuck at a certain point in my mystery script and looking for inspiration, ideas, etc. any recent/good/or classic movies you recommend where an innocent man is framed for murder and focuses on how he gets through it?

basically looking for movies that focus on man/woman on the run and what they do to get themselves out of trouble

      The Hurricane

Here's a few worth checking out that are a little different, in that they leave the protagonist's innocence is in question, even to us, the audience(unlike The Fugitive -- we see the crime, we know Kimble is innocent).

      Presumed Innocent

      Reversal of Fortune

      The Staircase (documentary)
      Ever thus to deadbeats.

Great movie. Focus is doing an American remake.

The hanging was the best show in town. But they made two mistakes. They hung the wrong man and they didn't finish the job.

              Western starring Clint Eastwood..

Doesn't exactly stand up to critical analysis.

The remake script is no better.

                  Frenzy (1972)
                  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068611/

London is terrorised by a vicious sex killer known as the neck tie murderer. Following the brutal slaying of his ex-wife, down-on-his-luck Richard Blaney is suspected by the police of being the killer. He goes on the run, determined to prove his innocence.

                  Directed by Alfred Hitchcock..

You'll find a lot of Hitchcock movies dedal with the "wrong man" aspect as part of the theme..

Haven't read the script. But I wasn't the only one that liked the movie...

This is a pretty accurate (somewhat spoiler-ish) review I think...

Sometimes it's called the "double chase" if the "wrong man" is pursued by the police while he in turn pursues a man / or clues to clear his name.

I've always liked what King of the One Liners Sigmund Freud said:

"Why do we believe people when they say, 'I'm guilty,' but not when they say, 'I'm innocent.'"

Check out a little aussie gem called Kiss or Kill from the 90s.

I don't want to give away too much, but there's an intriguing question about who may or may not be guilty.

I mean if you try to piece it together logically, you will probably go mad.
