Don't get your hopes up, guys. It's pretty disappointing given Marshall's talents. He's still yet to better The Descent. Fingers crossed for his next effort.
It got a release in UK/ireland a few months back. A VERY short release. There was only 5 people watching it in my cinema.
I wasn't crazy about doomsday, but I'd rank this below it. At least Marshall is trying something different, but with this effort I think he may have strayed too far from where is real talents lie.
To be honest, I'd class the Romans as the baddies.
That aside, The Descent was dog pile, whereas Dog Soldiers was an awesome low-budget ride. I've yet to see Doomsday but will check this out.
EDIT: If The Last Legion got made, this one always had a chance. Fingers crossed it banishes the painful memory of King Arthur, which is conjured whenever anyone mentions Romans, Britain and film all in the same sentence. Hell, that film was f*cking bad.
Eagle of the Ninth looks badass too. I'm with Hscope. I'm a bit of a sucker for these type of movies.
I didn't know about Eagle of the Ninth, now titled The Eagle, I believe, but it looks good, too.
Have you read Simon Scarrow's Eagle series of novels about a couple of Roman soldiers in Britain? Must be about ten of them. They're very good. And very similar in style to Bernard Cornwell's Napoleonic RichardSharpe series.
