    Hi guys,

Been away from the boards for a while (scriptwriting, life and other stuff, etc), but felt the need to break radio silence when I found this out:

    My cherry's being popped!

A couple of years back I was commisioned to write a script and now that film is about to start it's theatrical release.

I thought it would go straight to DVD like so many other UK micro-budget films, but the producers have worked very hard to find a distributor who is supporting the film, especially one who is opening the film this Friday at the Empire Leicester Square.

    http://www.empirecinemas.co.uk/index...is&filmid=2242

As you can imagine, we (the producer, director and I) are rather thrilled at having our first efforts shown at such a prestigious venue.

Plus the preview reviews haven't been too scathing either. Obviously some are and always will be, but most of the fanzine blogs and websites seem to like it, which is great as their readership is the main target audience.

    Anyway, enough blathering.

Apologies for the totally shameless plug - I'm just riding someone else's wave for a moment ... and it feels .

Hope everything's been good with you guys whilst I've been away ...

... and what the Hell happened to Dogtown? Talk about missing the final episode of your favourite TV series!

    All the best,

    Mat.

                          Re: 'Splintered'

                          Hi guys,

A thousand apologies for such a huge delay in saying "thanks" for all the kind words. I stayed in London a bit longer than expected to see family and friends and then came home to a totally time-intensive rewrite.

But hey ho, back in the land of the (virtual) living again.

So again, many many thanks for the kind support from you guys - I really appreciate it.

Opening night was great. There was something very special about it. But since it wasn't a premiere, I had to take my own red carpet (bought earlier in the store and cut to size). My 77-year-old mum had been waiting a looooong time for this, so I wasn't about to let her down. And she didn't let us down either - she hogged the carpet like she was the Queen of Sheba, so I had to (gently) drag her off so the other guests could have a go!

Everyone seemd to enjoy the film - some a bit more than others. There were two atrocious lines in it that everyone laughed at (it's a horror). They were added by the director and not written by me (honest!)

And yes, Bill was right - seeing the film in that particular cinema was really cool. The Empire Leicester Square and The Odeon Leicester Sqaure are like the Grauman's/Mann's Chinese Theatre of London. So yeah, whilst the Empire is still just a cinema, it was really cool.

Once again guys, thanks for the kind words. It was a great night, a great experience and I can't wait for the next one.

                          All the best,

                          Mat.
