  • Favreau out of the director's chair for IRON MAN 3....

All you had to do was listen to his commentary on IM 2 to realize this was more than likely....

I'll do it. But only if they ask me nicely.

Nothing overt or inflammatory, but over the course of the track he expresses his general frustration with Marvel and what he had to deal with from them while filming.

From what I've heard, he had to film IM2 without a finished script in place, which he apparently didn't enjoy very much. Probably too many cooks in the kitchen. And of course Marvel was pushing for all the Avengers-stuff, which made the story too crowded and unfocused.

Favreau is already pretty powerful and if A&C does well, which it probably will, he can get almost anything greenlighted.

I'd like to see him do a sequel to Swingers - I'd love to know what happened to those characters.... I bet Sue is doing life for accidently shooting someone when he was in one of his "step up bitch" moods.

I thought Favreau was a bad director after Iron Man 2 because the story was so unwieldy, but hearing this to be the reason for him leaving makes me feel more respect for him. Marvel drove their comics into the ground when they stuffed cross-overs so that you couldn't read the titles by themselves anymore and now it appears they're doing the same thing to their movies.

I feel like getting up and dancing because I'm so excited about COWBOYS AND ALIENS.

Actually, it sounds a lot like the first film, according to The Dude anyway...

Favreau and Downey's process was hard for Justin Theroux as well

Great when it works, but when it doesn't, we end up with Iron Man 2.
