  • Another '5 Reasons Why You Aren't Going To The Movies' Article

Another entry onto the controversy of whether the movie business in on the upswing or the downswing...

    http://blog.moviefone.com/2011/10/20...to-the-movies/

Here are the reasons they give

    1. Better Home Equipment
    2. The Video On Demand Window
    3. Television Shows
    4. Economics
    5. Crappy Movies

... nothing new, but what is interesting is that someone is paying attention as for whatever reason, as of right now this is the most popular article on AOL... or maybe no one is on AOL right now but me

Moviefone is owned by AOL*, who are desperately trying to reposition themselves as a 'news' provider now that the ISP thing is dead (speaking of downswings).

They're all valid. But for me it begins and ends with No. 5. I've seen SO MUCH junk in the last few years it just erodes your enthusiasm. Each time I come out of a theater thinking "My god, that sucked" I'm just a teeny tiny bit less inclined to go the next time around.

Crappy movies are poorly advertised and cost too much money.

        It's really that simple.

          Also:

          - 15 minutes of commercials -- not previews of coming attractions, but TV commercials -- before the movie starts.

          - idiots who talk, text, check their cell phones every five minutes, in general, a decay of overall public manners

          - poor projection and/or sound quality. Most theaters just don't care or don't have the dough or don't know what they're doing when it comes to the technical aspects of film projection.

It makes you want to go less and less.
