I saw it again recently on TCM and somehow it was even more funny to me than the last time. It's political satire, farce, slapstick, and absurdist. Talk about tonal shifts... Of course it's all set up well from the start, but still. Oh yeh, and it's a musical. It's "Dr. Strangelove" as a musical-comedy. Now, would anyone make that?
Please - tell me how I'm wrong about this. And to be clear, I want to be wrong. I've written a script of this sort (minus the musical). I haven't pitched it, but I'd sure like to know what producer might make a Marxist kinda movie today.
