  • The Magic of Belle Isle: A Rob Reiner film

In an effort to tap into his original talent, a cranky, wheelchair-bound author (Morgan Freeman) moves to a rural town, where he befriends a single mother (Virgina Madsen) and her three kids, who help reignite his passion for writing. Written by Rob, Andy Scheinman and Guy Thomas. Also stars Kenan Thompson, Fred Willard and Kevin Pollak. Love the scream at the beginning of the trailer.

This is my 3,000 post here, BTW.

It sounds like the type of story that has been done countless times.

Yeah, but I'd watch this since I'm a fan of the cast and Rob.

If it's done well, it won't matter.

I caught it on HDNET movies. They played a sneak preview on the forth of July.

The critics don't seem to like it but I liked it a lot.

It's about a writer who drinks too much and talks about creativity, imagination, and being able to "see it"...

          I can relate.

I think you guys will like it.

Ehhh, it's OK. Not deep enough to have any real drama or teach us anything we haven't learned about life, but a good flick to watch on a weekend afternoon. It reminds me of a Secondhand Lions-esque story, but without the scope or storytelling visuals. Wish there could have been more to this, but I guess every movie can't be perfect.

A solid C+ for the effort. A definite watch if you're looking for something light on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon at home on the couch.

I guess this is as good a place as any...

What the fvck's wrong with Rob Reiner? Is he just old and sentimental now? Has it interfered with his creative abilities? Does he not care anymore?

While critics and people in the industry may say "we've seen it before"

I think "regular" people are going to like it. You know, the movie going audience.

From the reviews I've seen from the regular people who have seen it, they love it.

This is like back when we talked about THE BUCKET LIST. Critics and people in the industry killed it. I said it was going to make a lot of money. It grossed over 175 million dollars worldwide.

I think Rob Reiner and Morgan Freeman are hoping that by releasing it to the public with a sneak preview, they can repeat the magic...

                Word of mouth.
