Who's excited for The Canyons? Funded on Kickstarter, written by Bret Easton Ellis, directed by Paul Schrader and starring Lindsay Lohan and porn star James Deen.

It's not The Hills... THE CANYONS is a contemporary L.A. noir from director Paul Schrader, writer Bret Easton Ellis, and producer Braxton Pope about the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their 20's and how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence.

There was a lengthy and fun article some months ago about the entire process of auditioning, selecting, and then putting up with the piece of human flotsam that is Lindsay Lohan as concerned this film. The highlights included her publicist (who the article mentions looks like Gandalf) objecting to having a reporter present to which the director said Lohan was free to leave, and the lot of them ditching her handler on the way to lunch.

Apparently the porn star was more professional than she was. I'll see about finding it shortly.

For the life of me, I can't remember the last time a media character assassination piece was fueled almost wholly by impartial observations rather than a personal agenda, but there it is.
