  • How to win Oscars - 100 percent foolproof method

Hire a screenwriter to make a film about John F Kennedy's last few months in office. The film will depict his secret relationship with Marilyn Monroe, his dealing with the Bay of Pigs invasion and Cuban Missile crisis, and his assassination.

    Call the film: Kennedy.

Hire Steven Spielberg to direct the film.

Hire Tom Hanks to play Mr Kennedy. (he may need to lose a few pounds but he won't mind)

Make the film a bit sentimental and pro-American so the audience go "ahhh, John F Kennedy was such a nice man, it was so sad he got killed."

Hire John Williams to do a dramatic but maudlin score.

Release film in November or December.

Sit back and relax as the film wins Oscars for Best Film, Best Actor, and Best Director.

So all I have to do to win an Oscar is hire three of the most talented people who have ever worked in our industry? It's really that easy?

Using that formula, you'd be batting .333 if this year's Oscars are any indication.
