What the hell? This looks like a bad porno. I had a feeling this was one of those books that wouldn't translate well to screen.

Wasn't the novel essentially a bad porno? This kind of feels like kicking a corpse in the ear.

And 20 million women read it for book club. It will make money. It looks God awful, but it will make money.

I like how they spent 3/4 of the trailer trying to tell us... "See it's not really porn - it's an interesting/ high class story about a young woman's journey of discovery in a world that's foreign to her and..."

        Then the last 30 seconds...

"Nahhh just kidding... it is porn."

They talked about "elevating" the material.

I've read the books. I've read far worse books. But this just looks ... meh.

That it does. In this case, it would have to be really, really, really awful to not sell, and even then people would see it just to see how bad it is. They really can't lose.

Why do these popular woman's books look so terrible on screen? It looks just as storyless as Twilight... Wait a sec, do these books even have a story?
I'm never wrong. Reality is just stubborn.

lol. You guys. The first book was Twilight fanfiction. Not joking.

That actually looks much better than I thought it was going to be, to tell you the truth. Sparser than I'd imagined. I think the screenwriter (Kelly Marcel) may have managed to elevate it.

A sadist read me a slew of the "inner goddess" passages, knowing I'd have a fit. I'd envisaged the damn goddess dancing in an inset in the corner of the screen. That doesn't look like it'll happen given the look of this.

I can't really explain why, but I was suddenly compelled to make a slight tweak to the trailer.

Not that it really matters for this film, but I find it interesting that they're releasing it in time for Valentine's Day. How romantic.
