  • Good to be back - Netflix recommendations

Hello. I hope you are all well.

I need some good recommendations, please, because I've seen every movie I can think of seeing.

Anything on the Netflix that are those hidden gems.

    Thanks!

We had a thread a few months ago regarding little-known films worth a watch. I don't have netflix available to me, so I do not know what their library of choices looks like.

On imdb my list of films I have entered ratings for is now over 1200 titles, so I know how you feel when you want to watch something new and have trouble finding something not already seen yet worth watching.

Off the top of my head here are a few, but if you watch a lot of movies, you've probably already seen them. i don't know if Netflix carries them:

    Things Change with Don Ameche
    Local Hero with Burt Lancaster
    Candleshoe with Jodie Foster

not sure what kind of pictures you like, but the Brass Teapot is a fun dark comedy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g30KBZ4m61Y

Also, if you're into military docs, Restrepo is a must. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DjqR6OucBc

Just watched BEASTS OF NO NATION. Directed by Cary Fukunaga (Sin Nombre, Jane Eyre, True Detective Season 1, etc), and starring Idris Elba and newcomer Abraham Attah as the main character (child).

It's a grim premise (boy gets abducted by a Kony-like figure to become a child soldier in an unnamed war torn African nation), but the cinematography and performances are absolute electric. Well worth watching (difficult material, but it won't feel like "homework" because of the dramatic tension throughout the film).

If you've watched WAR WITCH (which used to be on Netflix!), it covers similar territory.
