Admit it. You just don't *like* that

In Lethal Weapon they saved Murtaugh's little girl. Enjoyed that just fine because the narrative maintained dramatic tension throughout.

I thought it was fantastic. I had a blast.

I sometimes feel like people on this board go into movies looking for reasons to not like them.

If by people you mean those who have yet to sell a script but jump at any opportunity to criticize, then yes.

If by sometimes you mean those times when you really enjoy something and someone else doesn't enjoy something as much as you, then yeah it may SEEM like that, but it's one hell of an assumption to make that you would ever have any inkling as to why another person you don't know goes to a movie.

Watching a movie and then discussing what you did or didn't like about it is part of the movie going process. Everyone does it, not just aspiring screenwriters. Next time you go take a listen to some of the conversations non-screenwriting folks are having as they leave the theatre. Some people like some things some people dislike some things...duh.

It's kind of an arrogant statement to assume people you don't know are going to a movie with the intention to hate something. In this case "seems like" is incorrect in a big way.

As I scan through this thread, I have yet to see anyone post that they disliked the movie overall. So your comment "seems" out of place in this thread.

People discuss movies critically all the time, especially the general public who have zero Hollywood aspirations.

Different people will like certain things and dislike certain things. Whether or not a person sells a script doesn't matter. Some people will like some things and some will dislike some things. It's a pretty simple concept to grasp.

Is this discussion board a place where you're only allowed to discuss what you like about movies and stuff? Even non-aspiring screenwriters enjoy what they liked and didn't like about a movie they see.

A real discussion is one where varying viewpoints are welcome, especially those that may be different from your own.

Nobody knows everyone on this board. Why are so many assumptions made of people you don't even know?

roscoegino, what is your opinion about the Nice Guys? After all, that is the title of this thread. You already shared your opinion of people you don't know, now do you have anything to add that pertains to the topic of this thread?

Boom? Did you hit your head or something?

I'm confused. Who hates kids? Is that comment aimed at someone who hated this movie overall? I have yet to see where someone hated the Nice Guys overall in this thread.

                  Re: The Nice Guys

I saw it in an afternoon binge that included Neighbors 2 and X-men Apocalypse.

The Nice Guys was by far the best film in every way that mattered.

It really did feel like a spiritual sequel to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and I didn't mind that one bit.

Surely it would have done far better at the box office if they had titled it The Good Guys.

                      Great Film.

Gosling channeled Lou Costello when he discovered a dead body sitting against the same tree he was sitting against. Seriously, he was so terrified he lost his voice, like Costello would when he was terrified. Hilarious.
