  • Infernal Affairs

    Definitely check this one out.

The mob places a deep cover mole in the police force while the police place their own spy into the mob.

    Great premise.

Both men are torn by the deceptive lives they lead- the cop wanting to come in to reclaim his reputation (destroyed by his apparent turn to crime); and the mobster conflicted after living a decade as a good guy (for the most part).

A definite step above the standard Hong Kong action film. Nicely acted with very effective direction.

Scorsese is remaking this film with Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon as the two moles.

It's great. It's the best John Woo movie ever.

And it wasn't made by John Woo.

Leo is becoming Scorsese's crutch with the studios. Another collaboration is not what the doctor ordered.

Richard Gere was excellent. And I don't like Richard Gere.

        This isn't the Howard Johnson's.

Sounds like he's saying somebody outdid John Woo at his own game.

The DVD's dolby digital sound mix is the best one I've ever heard on any DVD. Not as good as the Saving Private Ryan DTS mix, but still damn amazing.

this was a great film. it's always a bit odd with the subtitles in asian cinema because the dialogue - especially in the love scenes or "tender" scenes - always seems so on the nose and awkward. other than a scene or two between the undercover gangster and his wife, this was a really great movie. i'm looking forward to the remake.
