  • The Brazilian Job

I'll avoid any cheap shots about it sounding like an instructional video for waxers (okay, I'll avoid cheap shots starting NOW!)....

Apparently we have our sequel to THE ITALIAN JOB, penned by David Twohy, from an original script of his entitled THE WRECKING CREW....

    Discuss.

David Twohy's hit and miss with me, but when he hits, it's a great hit. Hopefully, this one will hit.

More importantly, how will this compare to Revenge of the Sith?

I feel the same about Twohy. But this film rests on F. Gary's shoulders, just like the first one. I mean, The Italian Job's script wasn't exactly Oscar worthy.

But I really liked the first one. Fun escapist stuff. I'm glad it turned out to be the little engine that could that summer. I'm looking forward to the sequel -- hopefully the entire cast will be back.

BTW, and MacG I think you'll like this theory, the original script was called "The Wrecking Crew." In Marky Mark's cameo in the pilot of Entourage, he calls the guys the wrecking crew. Coincidence?

And to think they throw in those little nuggets precisely for the 1 in 10,000 viewers like you who will actually "get" it, ele.

Dude! That's awesome! So what're we sayin'? Paramount's been sitting on this nugget of information for over a year. Hmmmm....

Ugh! The Italian Job was horrible. Any sequel should be abandoned immediately.

                This isn't the Howard Johnson's.

I thought it was an okay movie, but it lacked the honest charm of the original - mainly because it was Hollywoodized up the yahzoo by people trying to supply "cool" - which is a worthless endeavor.

The sequel is purely a mercantile exercise. I'll catch it on netflix.

Hollywood should not remake films. Only rarely are the remakes as good as or better than the originals.

Hollywood should stop making car chase films. The vein is pretty much tapped out and has been for a long time. Nothing new can be done; only more egregious violations of the laws of physics, pure spectacle that is not just unbelievable, but is not believed, not even within the suspension of disbelief that carries the rest of the story.

Hollywood should not write sequels. Only rarely are the sequels as good as or better than the first of the series.

And a sequel of a remake or a car chase film?

Based on the logic that two wrongs don't make a right but three lefts do, who knows, it might actually be okay.

I'm waiting for an altogether different flick titled The Brazilian Wax Job. Most memorable line: "She arrived in Brazil with a full bush and left with a pruned, sculpted runway."

Ah, that's a chicken/egg question. Did the joke come before the site or the site before the joke? Only my hairdresser knows for sure.

Not only is your modesty tested, but your flexibility too as you're expected to put yourself into a wax-friendly position. This may include:

<LI>The doggy position - this involves kneeling on all fours on the waxing table. The beautician may also ask you to lean on your elbows and spread your legs wider. You will either feel like a sexy Hollywood porn star or a dog at the vets. In either case, it's best just to relax and think of England, as opposed to considering what the beautician might be eye to eye with.

<LI>The nappy changing position - this involves lying on your back with your legs in the air.

Contortionist - if you're not feeling bendy, this Yoga style position may leave you with one leg lodged behind your head and a torn hamstring to accompany your new-look muff.
That's it...I'm officially changing careers and becoming a Brazilian waxer.
