Re: South Park - Season 14

I thought it was hilarious. And the censoring sounded like a joke. I mean, come on, the final speech totally beeped? That's too good to be true!

And the comeback of Scott Tenorman was nice!

Yeah... it's awesome to replace comedy and dialogue with a harsh 30 second bleeping noise. Genius!

For me, the comeback of Scott, like all the jokes in these two episodes, were extremely forced and thrown in there for the sake of having as many references to old episodes of possible. I could write a lot about why the Scott Tenorman bit was stupid, but of all the shows to dissect South Park obviously isn't worth the time. Bottom line, when I laugh it's all good. I don't get what was funny about the last 3 episodes, but whatever.

Dude. I ****ing love South Park. I just hated the last three episodes, so I "don't get satire" now? Wow.

Let's get something straight: the censoring WAS NOT SATIRE. Comedy Central censored the episode because they're afraid of radical muslims. Knowing this going into the episode, the censoring is not funny at all. It's pathetic. Not satire. Scared wusses.

Secondly, South Park as a whole is a satire show. But for me, it's weak as hell to basically spend two episodes satirizing your own satire show with old references. Oh my God! It's so funny to bring back everything they've already used! I get what the joke was. But it doesn't mean it was funny to me.

For a show that goes as many places as South Park does, it's OK to hate a few episodes and still understand what satire is. You're a ****ing moron.

            Yes it was, quite obviously.

They designed the episode knowing full well that there was a good chance it would be censored, and then when it was censored, it played to the episode's point. Even without Comedy Central bleeping the name, some stuff still would have been intentionally censored. The black censor bar would've been there, because that was the joke. Tom Cruise got Mohammad's "powers" and then he, too, was censored.

If they knew full well it was happening, then yes. But they didn't. Read the statement from Matt and Trey. They were pissed.

We didn't get to see the episode the way it was meant to be aired by the writers. That makes me sad. They wrote speeches for the kids at the end, and I want to know what they said.

They did know, to some extent. They were (understandably) upset that the dialogue was beeped out, especially as Kyle's had nothing to do with Mohammed.

However, IT WAS satire. They knew that showing Mohammed is a "sensitive" issue, and they pointed out how inconsistent it is by having Buddha snort crack and showing Jesus looking at internet porn.

How hard is this to understand.

                    Yes, that part is satire.

Comedy Central censoring content they feel causes them danger: not satire.

Did you guys watch The Simpsons this week? Bart's board composition was about how they'd stand beside South Park if they weren't so scared.

I thought this week's episode was a little schitzo. It would have made more sense if they'd just stuck with Towley and not spent so much time in tard camp.

It was. I liked both plot lines though and the way they used the text supers during the tard camp.

Last night's episode wasn't up to par, but the best thing about it was imagining Sarah Palin's face while watching it.

I was expecting a light episode like last night's after all the heavy satire stuff they've been doing. That's the South Park formula. Three or four episodes satirizing timely sociopolitical issues followed by an episode about Randy pooping the world's biggest turd.

I was just trying to figure out if all of the kids at camp were based on classic cartoon characters, or just the few I immediately recognized.
