Not so much a rebuttal. I didn't read any of the arguments before me, I was just chiming in with what I imagined the impact would be. Out of principle I'd like to see the FCC ease indecency restrictions, even if it doesn't change what content is put out there. And I'm speaking to now, not later. Who knows what the public will find acceptable in 20-30 years. That's why I'd like freedom on the part of all content creators to deliver what audiences want, not what the FCC wants. I don't want to debate that, though. Just my personal opinion.

well indirectly i think you made a good objection. I just expressed concern that without a governing body or control over that subject matter (if you want to loosely call it that), the situation then lends itself to being vulnerable to being abused/taken in the wrong direction/ at the mercy of those who seek nothing put too profit aka have no one's interests in mind.

What you're saying that is that regardless, people will limit or control the exposure/demand for that kind of material... which in itself makes for an interest discussion or rebuttle.

I'd just like to point out that the FCC has no jurisdiction regarding cable networks (TNT, Spike, USA, FX, etc.) and you do not see rampant nudity, foul language or excessive violence on those channels because....ad revenue. In fact, you get Comedy Central broadcasting "uncensored" or "Secret Stash" features at midnight on Saturday. They could do "uncensored" whenever they chose.

Honestly, if we're gonna have this conversation - its going to endup drolling on for pages i can tell already.

I'll just say this. I think most people, including yourself based on the example of using 9-11, don't completely understand the macro-level impact this kind of stuff has on culture/societal social forces. In other words, you don't know what you're talking about.

And I'm not saying that as in "you're dumb", you just haven't been educated about such things. Be no different than someone asking me what the impact is of me buying a hybrid... from a chemical compound based perspective.

There's nothing "inherently" wrong with pornography. It's not fundementally evil. People have been fcking since time started. On it's own its a wonderful aphrodisiac. But that's self-centered naive way to look at it. It's an industry that breeds abuse and caters to individuals who are likely to be marginalized... and thems are the breaks.

What, you think nudity on TV is going to translate into artsy tastful bottoms and bossums on quality programs? ya cause those chicks can't wait to take their knickers off. No. More than likely it'll translate into more slut-TV and programs not too far off from "Girl-gone-wild" kinda of crap, which will fulfill the initial point i was making. Thats were the money will go. As a whole, ppl will pay to see young dumb girls, do young dumb things. The market will eventually dictate that it go in that direction, and then once again you have 18 years old on TV flashing their cooch, only to be jettison when they turn 20, and have nothing else to fall back on so they start hooking' and smoking crack..

Thats a exagerated version, but one that is less exagerated than thinking for a second this will lend itself to tasteful nudity on your favorite thursday night program.
