Agreed on all parts of Ele's post. Ian is as good as ever and so is the show.

FYI - the guy who plays Dan (Swearengen's right hand man) is the same actor who played Cameron Diaz's retarded brother in There's Something About Mary. "Franks and Beans!"

But I'm sure you already knew that.

By the way, here's a bit of fascinating info. I just found out that the actor who played Jack McCall (Wild Bill's killer) is the same man who plays Wolcott! Couldn't believe it. The guy sure does clean up good.
Holy crap. I was wondering about that, but I didn't know for sure. I remember the first time I saw Jack McCall, I thought it was Peter Krause from SportsNight and Six Feet Under. And then when Wolcott showed up, I thought "Well, here's another guy who looks kind of like Peter Krause." And I thought "Wouldn't it be weird if this was the same guy who played the guy who killed Wild Bill?" But I didn't think to check imdb and confirm it. It just seemed too wild.

      And indeed it is wild.

And how about him ending up with that letter of Bill's?

I've been scratching my head on that one for two weeks.

You must've missed the part where E.B. Farnum sold it to him, hinting that it might contain information about a claim.

Hey, did anyone catch Robin Weigert as a psychiatrist on the last CSI? Strange to see her playing someone all clean and sober. I half expected her to call Grissom a cocksvcker.

              Re: Deadwood season 2

Okay, "Deadwood" is the cat's balls in my opinion (that's a compliment in some kind of old-fashioned slang that I have never really understood). It is the show that I do not want to miss.

But two things bother me, in ascending order:

The indirect dialogue, with all its subtlety and complexity, which is a strength of the show, becomes a little too dense at times. Fortunately, I am able to watch the show several times during the week, so I eventually get it all or nearly all.

The thing, though, that really, really rankles me is this: Have these hoopleheads never heard of the fvckin' wheel? They are always pulling some dead body (or nearly dead) through a foul, muddy street on a sled! And "throwing ruptures" from the effort. For crying out loud, people used carts with wheels a zillion years ago!

Yes, I am really ComicBent. I can't hide any longer.

                Re: Deadwood season 2

Hello fine peoples of Done Deal and this Deadwood thread.

Good show. I have only seen as far as "EB Was Left Out" as I like to let the episodes stack up on the On Demand so I can watch several in a row. I think I have three in the stack now and will watch shortly.

I agree with most sentiments in this thread. McShane is awesome to be sure...most everyone in the cast is. I'm not sure if I'm one hundred percent behind this, but my favorite is more than likely Dourif. I just can't get past being a huge fan of his for so many years...it's great to see him on a show like this.

                  Agreed. Closed captioning helps me.

                  This isn't the Howard Johnson's.

                      Re: Deadwood season 2

A friend of mine does sound for those "Behind the Scenes" looks HBO does of all their shows. He told me a few stories of his visits to the set which is out by Dave Clary's house, and visits to the production office.

On the second day of their "Behind the Scenes" shoot they went up to Milch's office to interview him. There he was, laying flat on the floor with a pillow under his head, his assistant at his desk on the computer typing out what he was saying.

He also told me that Milch's is every where during shoots and if he isn't on the set, they call him on his cell phone when the director doesn't like something. That is a set I'd love to be a fly on the wall on.
