LOL I don't even need to respond to that list.

    Married with Children

It was so poorly made, that it was good. They new it was cheesy and bad, so they mocked themselves. I love it.

    What's funnier?

    Arrested Development
    Seinfeld
    Andy Richter Controls the Universe
    Scrubs
    Fawlty Towers
    Married with Children

That's what's funnier. However, the American version of the office looks just about as good as Arrested Development.

    Re: Funny show on TV?

I have, and of the few eps I saw, it was pretty funny. But not nearly at the level of The Office, IMO.

So, since it's FAR from the funniest show on TV, what are the other dozens of shows funnier? (though technically, The Office has been over since what... '02?)

    Funny show on TV?

Whoa now. The Office is far from the funniest show on television. Ever hear of a little show called Arrested Development?

    Re: 6 Episodes?

The American version will be a crime against humanity. The Office is one of the funniest shows in the history of TV, if not the funniest. The guy from Jon Stewart's show can't hold a candle to Ricky Gervais.

    6 Episodes?

Kind of sucks that they only order 6 episodes. I'm gonna miss 4 or 5 of them too because I'm in Australia till mid-April. I hope it does well and they order more.

Being such a huge fan of the original, I have to say the American version looks... pretty good. Definitely better than the American version of Coupling (but that's not saying much), and the cast is great. Plus, I heard Ricky Gervais was involved in developing this new version, so we can all hope for the best.

I guess I just never understood why the two should be compared so closesly. British culture and American culture are so different. My only concern is whether or not it's funny. And it is.

I couldn't believe all of the negative feelings toward it. I never watched the original and have nothing to compare it to.
I think you just answered your own question there. :lol

I saw the pilot a while ago and thought it was great. I couldn't believe all of the negative feelings toward it. I never watched the original and have nothing to compare it to. But then again, I think most of America is in the same boat. I think it's damn good.

For one thing, it has Rainn Wilson in it.

    And he's brilliant.

Some of you may know him as the intern from Six Feet Under. He guest starred as a researcher in a viral lab on last week's episode of Numbers.

    NBC's The Office

I was just on nbc.com watching all the previews for their version of The Office and I gotta say, it looks pretty good. I was impressed. Most American versions of British shows now-a-days blow, but this one looks pretty good.
