that's why this business is so flightly. the people who try to make it in it are so far out of touch on how good the pros are --it's as if the potential 'seller' lives in a vacuum that does not include evaluating yourself against the benchmarks.
however, hollywood does not, and i repeat, does not honor the intelligencia, it caters to the lowest common denominator. that in itself lends itself for mediocrity.
some of the pros are as good and far ahead in talent and accumen then a wheelchaired kid playing against the five of the best players in the history of basketball.
demographics evens the playing field and movies like superbad and the like will always allow the quick witted and mildly smart to get paychecks.
