Are there screenwriters or directors who are also noteworthy poets?
...have there been any? Cinema is an evolving new technology barely a century old, but, it seems odd shared competency isn't more common...is there more of an overlap in non-English speaking countries?
thanks

I think this is mostly a non-U.S. phenomenon, as you suggest. The few I know of - Bertolucci was a prize-winning poet, Pasolini published. In France, Cocteau. In the U.S. James ('Deliverance') Dickey is the only one that comes to mind, though there must be others.
